Protect Your Peace, Remember Your Power

Hello, sisters! As the calendar turns to 2026, I’m not interested in talking about "losing ten pounds" or "fixing" ourselves. We’ve spent decades being the fixers, the doers, and the caregivers. This year, we are pivoting.

We are entering a season of Protecting Our Peace and Remembering Our Power. It’s not about retreat; it’s about a strategic reclamation of who we are. If you are in your 50s, 60s, or beyond, you aren't just "aging"—you are ascending.

Protecting Your Peace: The New Boundaries

Peace isn’t something that just happens; it’s something you guard. In 2026, let’s commit to:

  • The "Slow Yes": Before committing to a new project or a social obligation, wait 24 hours. Ask yourself: "Does this bring me joy, or just a sense of duty?"

  • Selective Accessibility: You don't have to answer every text immediately. Your phone is a tool for your convenience, not a leash for everyone else's.

  • Curating Your Space: Whether it’s your living room or your social media feed, if it makes you feel cluttered or "less than," it’s time to clear it out.

Replacing Old Scripts with Better Ways of Thinking

We all have those "old recordings" playing in our heads—rules we learned in the 70s, 80s, or 90s that no longer serve us. Let's hit the delete key and replace them:

  • Old Thought: "I’m too old to start that now."

  • Better Way: "I finally have the life experience to actually enjoy learning this."

  • Old Thought: "I need to stay busy to be relevant."

  • Better Way: "My presence is my contribution. I don't have to 'do' to be 'enough'."

  • Old Thought: "I should keep my opinions to myself to keep the peace."

  • Better Way: "I will speak my truth with grace. I am not responsible for other people’s discomfort with my boundaries."

Remembering Your Power

You are a woman who has navigated decades of change. That isn't just "history"—it’s your résumé of strength. To remember your power this year, try these:

  • Audit Your Wins: Take a moment to look back at 2025. What did you survive? What did you build? What did you walk away from? That is your power in action.

  • The Power of "No": Remember that "No" is a complete sentence. Using it isn't being "difficult"; it's being decisive.

  • Invest in Your Spark: What makes you lose track of time? Whether it’s gardening, writing, hiking trails, or mentoring—do more of that. That spark is where your power lives.

Let’s Chat!

2026 is our year to rock on, not by doing more, but by being more of who we already are. I want to hear from you:

What is one "old way of thinking" you are leaving behind in 2025? And what is one way you plan to protect your peace this coming year? Leave a comment below—let’s inspire each other!
